FINALS ARE OVER!

Hello to you all (or rather, the few of you who read my blog...)

I apologize for the absence...but I am finally finished with finals and onto my last semester of college!
In celebration...I've stumbled across a mixtape blog that has an AWESOME Coldplay mixtape (Viva la Hova) and an AWESOME Adele mixtape (Adele 1988) available for FREE download here:  http://www.pressplayfashionforward.com/

Also...if you haven't checked her out yet...this is UK's next diva [so move over Leona Lewis...hehe jk, I'll always like her!]

And one more new artist for you all...[I know, I know...lots of music to check out but it's been a while since my last post!]
But check out the beautiful Kreesha Turner...she's one of Canada's newest pop artists signed by Capitol.  She has a bit of a fresher Blu Cantrell vibe to her.  Check out tracks Lady Killer and Passion on her Myspace.  Unfortunately...my favorite song of hers [Beautiful] is not on there but you can listen to it on youtube.  (If you like her...you can her music from iTunes)
[She's so pretty...too bad her pleather jacket is a BIG NO NO!]

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe winter break.  Enjoy the holidays!  And in the meantime...subscribe to my blog to be updated on where to get new music!

For the Blues Afficianados out there...

Kaleigh Baker is a youthful 21 year old from Florida with a old-soul type of voice that has the maturity seeming as if she's been around for decades.

Self proclaimed jazz/blues/fusion singer, she's got pipes that will blow you out of the water and soothe your soul at the same time. She's got a rare quality in her tone that has just the right amount of raspiness that knows when to push forward and when to pull back. Her bio on her Myspace page says it better, "A versatile vocalist and blossoming songwriter, Kaleigh can put shivers down your spine with her whisper, and send you to your knees with her roar. "

http://www.myspace.com/kaleighbaker
key tracks::Blues Waltz::Old News
**though, I quite like any of her tracks posted on her Myspace...

No new music today but...

www.30milestyle.com!!!!

PLEASE check out my friend's new website...it's actually pretty cool [but mostly geared towards men.]

Here's a short blurb about what the website is all about:

"As you may or may not know, some friends and I have been working for a long time developing a website called www.30milestyle.com. The basic premise is a specifically men’s based online publication that allows users to find out what celebrities are wearing/usingand where to buy these items on the internet. It is a shopping guide for all aspects of popular culture’s lifestyle.

Read articles about how to pull off a look like Brad Pitt and what type of motorcycle he rides, to what type of cigars Jay-Z smokes and where he stays in St. Tropez, then find the best deals on the net to purchase these products.

But the site does not stop at fashion… it revolves around all aspects of the Pop Culture Lifestyle.
-Travel destinations, celebrity frequented nightclubs and restaurants, new clothing lines, and technology are all an integral part of the website as well."

And while the website is geared towards men, there are female contributions for women's fashion as well. So check it out and spread the word!

In closing news...TRY NEW THINGS PEOPLE! With the economy in the crapper, don't let yourselves get down in the dumps. Have some fun! Lately, I've been experimenting with my haircuts which has been fun. Makes me feel adventurous :]

::Photo1 from beginning of October::Photo2 from end of October aka just before this posting::
Note-->If anyone is looking for a hairstylist in the NYC area, I highly recommend mine. Her name is Nicole and she's totally awesome. Hit me up for more info!

Enjoy your Halloween! What are you dressing up as? Due to my lack of creativity, I'm dressing up as one of the crew members from FannyPak (America's Best Dance Crew Season 2).

Fashion Tip for October

A friendly neighborhood reminder::

This is important.  This is nothing new but it is a must read.  This is something I cannot stress enough...and yet, people just can't seem to comprehend a concept so simple...because no matter how much people complain about it...people still do it!

LEGGINGS ARE NOT PANTS!

So please, girls...spare the general public with trying to pull off the whole leggings as pants look.
Going out for a morning jog is one thing but trying to pull of that whole leggings in replacement of pants look with a top that doesn't go past your waist--not pretty.  By no means am I against leggings, but as a general rule...

"If you can see your crotch, bring it down a notch!"

The NONO:
**Posh Spice...with the money she has you'd think she could afford to buy an outfit that works.  As
tiny as she is, even she can't pull of leggings as pants.  So not attractive to see all that material botched around the crotch...

Tastefully done:
**Now your top does not need to be dress-long, but please notice the more appealing difference here...these ladies know the rule.  You should too!

I'm in a Company Of Thieves...

WOW. WOW. WOW. WOW. WOW.
one of the best live shows I've been to...ever.
I scouted out this band about a year ago simply based off the recordings I heard from their Myspace.  I was really captivated by the lead singer's voice...it's truly something special.  But then seeing her and the band perform live tonight...it just went from special to magical.  Their recordings really good and still don't do them justice to what they can capture in a live show.  They had the entire room up on their feet dancing, clapping, and singing along by the end of the show.  Unfortunately, the label I pitched them to (not to mention names but...ahem...Columbia) passed on them and they ended up signing to Wind Up Records about three weeks ago...which
ironically goes through Sony Music Ent. to distribute their products.

Anyway, enjoy them.  love them.  support them.  Their record is going to debut in February 2009.
[By the way...the stunning lead singer Genevieve is only 21.  Makes me wonder what I'm doing with my life...besides writing in blogs haha.]
::In this part I would normally put down what I believe to be the key tracks...but this band is just so good that I can't really necessarily choose one.  However, my personal favorite is In Passing::

First highlight of CMJ...

My first highlight of CMJ goes to a band from LA called Carlotta...

I've been following them since last year and I think the lead singer (Clay) has quite a voice and tons of energy to follow...

and I must say...they put on quite the live show. Very quirky guys, very spontaneous, and very entertaining to watch.

[debut album "Out Of Love" also available on iTunes]

Some new (unsigned) music for your ears!

Here's another dosage of fresh music for your ears...

Welcome, welcome!

Because I have too much time on my hands [well that's a lie bc I have very little time on my hands but love to procrastinate...] I shall collect my thoughts on music, fashion, and NYC life in this little blogspot.

I may or may not update frequently...but either way...I shall put out my best efforts to update meaningfully

Until next time...enjoy some new music by unsigned UK artist Belle Humble.

She's quirkly, light, and refreshing with a touch of summer even though we're right smack in the fall.
